Still seed dressing, this makes a total of seven weeks up to now and still counting. I am expecting another two weeks or possibly more. What fun. So just to break the monotony I have included a picture of me seriously abusing one of the two shovels that I had made to my own specification. And if you are wondering if I really did break the root by standing my fifteen stone one the shaft. Yes I did and I haven't broken it. I am six foot three and have suffered back ache since my late teens. Early this year I cleaned the ditch running up the edge of my orchard with a shovel with a standard shaft. The result was several days off work, I couldn't even get my socks on in the morning. The shovel in the picture is one of a pair with a much longer shaft. I chose plastic over wood as the average wood shaft wouldn't stand the sort of abuse you see below. The shovel is on the heavy side but I spent most of Sunday digging around the stump which this root is attached to. I didn't suffer back ache from the work. I wonder if I could market these tools.
Before you ask, yes I did drive it into the top of the stump. Yes again, I know this is abuse of the tool. The thing is I want to know if the tool is tough enough. So far it is, though I think I haven't chosen the correct handle. See you tomorrow, Perhaps!
